Founded in 1931 by Martin and Anthony Winther, Dynamatic grew from the Winther brothers’ work in the automotive industry to a leader in Eddy Current technology. From its early applications in railroad air conditioning to aircraft engine testing during World War II, Dynamatic has continued evolving its technology to meet the demands of the industry.

Dynamatic is founded
Martin and Anthony Winther establish Dynamatic in Kenosha, Wisconsin, beginning a legacy of American engineering and innovation
Eddy Current dynamometers are introduced
Dynamatic introduces Eddy Current Dynamometers, expanding the company’s technology into engine testing and other demanding applications.
Variable Speed Regulated Clutch
Dynamatic introduces the variable-speed regulated clutch, laying the groundwork for the variable speed technology that would become so important to its products.
Supporting the War Effort
During World War II, Dynamatic’s facilities were dedicated to the war effort, primarily manufacturing Eddy Current Dynamometers, used for aircraft engine testing
